To permit and facilitate corporate mobility in the European Union, there are at the moment two projects. There are a proposal for a directive on cross-border mergers of public limited companies of November 2003 (replacing the former proposal on a tenth company law directive, withdrawn in December 2001) and the draft proposal for the transfer of registered office with a change in applicable law of 1997 (fourteenth company law directive).
