|
Alessio Maria Pacces (born in Naples on November 29, 1971) is Associate Professor of Law and Economics, Tinbergen Tenure Track, at the Rotterdam Institute of Law and Economics of the Erasmus School of Law. He worked for seven years in the Law and Economics Research Department of the Italian Central Bank (Banca d’Italia), from where he resigned as senior researcher in 2007. Previously, he worked at the Inspectorate Department of the Italian Supervisory Authority on Securities Markets (Consob) and served as junior officer in the Italian Financial Police (Guardia di Finanza).
In 2008, Alessio defended his PhD cum laude at the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. He holds a cum laude degree in economics from the LUISS University of Rome (1994) and the European Master in Law and Economics (Universities of Hamburg and Manchester, 1995), which was awarded with distinction and the first prize for the best thesis. In 2003, he was visiting scholar at UC Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law. Since 1994, he has been researching and published in many fields of Economic Analysis of Law: Torts, Contracts, Banking and Securities Regulation, and Corporate Governance.
Alessio teaches Public Law and Economics, Advanced Topics in Competition and Regulation, Corporate Governance, and General Introduction to Law and Economics. He has held a number of visiting appointments in these areas. His current research interests are in Corporate Law and Finance, Comparative Law and Economics, and the Economics of Financial Regulation. He is a member of the European and the American Associations of Law and Economics.
Alessio is fluent in Italian and English, he reads French, and he is learning Dutch.
